Adding a Mesh Network

We have the Internet 50 plan, which works fine if you are sitting in the living room. I am going to begin working from home and really need to boost the signal to the other side of the house. I'm looking into a mesh network for better coverage upstairs and downstairs. As I research this I'm trying to understand how to remove the U-Verse gateway as the router and let the mesh network handle it. Is it difficult to do? I've gone through some of the gateway settings before so I'm familiar with how to access them, just not sure of the next step.

Thanks.......Tim

One of the mesh nodes (the main one) would plug directly into the AT&T modem with ethernet.

The other nodes just need power and not an ethernet connection.

When it's all set up and configured and pumping out WiFi, go into the AT&T's modems settings. Navigate to the WiFi page, turn off 2.4 and 5GHz radios.

Keep in mind if you're having issues at any point it's a good idea to turn on AT&T's gateways WiFi and seeing how that is acting to verify if it's an AT&T issue or a 3rd party product issue.
